Friday night tarot squad?

I'm not claiming it's "true" in a supernatural way, but here is what the reading says as far as I would interpret it.

The first card in the centre represents yourself at the moment. It's the 10 of pentacles. Family life and security are very much on your mind at the moment. You believe you need to be practical and are wary of doing anything impulsive if it puts your security at risk. However you could also feel stuck in a rut.

The 6 of swords card lying across it represents current challenges. Another indicator of being stuck and scared of "rocking the boat". You're feeling that your life isn't flowing well and you can't move forwards. There's regret that a decision you made in the past is now coming back to bite you.

Distant past is the Strength card. Your early life was quite difficult but it's given you great inner strength and determination. You can weather anything that's thrown at you and plough on. You have a lot of sympathy and tolerance for others in difficult situations as you've been through it yourself.

Recent past is Temperance. It's been a time of compromise and moderation. There's been a need to fit in with other people, possibly a the expense of your own needs.

Upcoming events is the eight of wands. You're going to find out something soon that will throw your situation up in the air. You'll need to make swift decisions about what you want to do next.

Future events is the reversed Hierophant. You need to beware of peer pressure or an opinionated relative trying to influence your decisions. You need to rely on your own judgement, as they want to preserve the status quo, not necessarily what's best for you.

Inner emotions is the reversed Ace of Swords. You're not trusting your own judgement at the moment. Everything seems confused and you're not thinking clearly. You are letting your head rule your heart and you need to listen to your gut instinct.

How others see you is the ten of swords. They are anxious that you've reached the end of your tether and are about to do something drastic to change the situation. They aren't very happy about this. Perhaps the current situation suits them far more than it does you.

Actually, that deck isn't the same version as mine, and I can't see the numbers clearly on my monitor, but squinting at it again now that first, mostly hidden, card might not be the ten of pentacles. If it isn't, then that first bit will be slightly different obviously.

I'm not an expert, I'm interested so will have a go.

The heart of the matter- 10 of pentacles- is that you want stability and a happy family life. You believe by sticking to the traditional rules that this will create stability.

The challenges of this is that you may feel lost and depressed. You may feel you're in troubled waters, like the image on the card, you're trying to get away.

Your conscious goal is the reversed hierophant. You want to do the right thing, but you're finding you're not sure what that is right now.

the unknown influence is temperance- there is equilibrium and balance around you. You have lots of self control and you're looking at all the options, considering others points of view.

past influence was 8 of wands- plans were rushed which got you into this position, things were up in the air and decisions were quickly made to get a sense of stability

an approaching influence is the strength card- you will have the inner emotional strength to get through this and take back control of your life

your talent is the ace of swords- you believe in yourself and can see the situation for what it really is, you're honest with yourself which takes strength. You will face the facts and wont carry bitterness and disillusion from the past.

others see you as 10 of swords- They see you as feeling life is against you. They are starting to realise that things cant go on like this for you and hope it will be a turning point for you

your fear is that you feel your life is fated, that the world is against you

outcome 7 wands reversed - the relationship will end unless you fight for it. If you want to fight for it, it will be difficult as you feel overwhelmed. You will feel vulnerable, but if you care about your partner it will be worth it in the long run.

I'm getting the impression that you rushed into a relationship for stability but realised it may have been for the wrong reasons. Its a difficult place to be in, so you will feel vulnerable for a while.

Cards only give a snapshot of what is happening now, but things wont stay this way forever.

What a load of tosh

Regardless of whether you believe in it as something mystical, or just as an aid to lateral thinking about a problem. There is a set meaning to each card. Putting the set meanings together provides a "reading". I tend to think it's just a random way of giving a new insight into a problem. Not mystical, but just a tool to give you a possible different perspective. A bit like De Bono's hat method.

If people have taken the time to look at it and process the card meanings and give a "reading" out of them, then a basic thank you from the OP would be nice.

Marking place as DD14 has just announced that she wants to buy a pack and I'm not so impressed! Wanting to learn to build a reasonable and very negative response.
