Holiday cough moan

Not sure what the point of this thread is, I just want to moan…..

Currently on holiday (UK), it’s lovely here but since we arrived I’ve developed a cold & have the most awful, horrible sounding cough. My voice is hoarse, my chest hurts, I’m making horrible raspy wheezy sounds with every breath, and I just can’t stop coughing. Have had to buy Tena lady cos every time I cough I pee (Thankyou children), & the only thing soothing my throat is cold water & gazillions of strepsils. Not sleeping well either.

Testing negative for Covid so must be some other bug. I feel fucking miserable & I’m just having to suck it up & put up with it without moaning, so I don’t ruin the holiday for everyone else.

I feel for your pain! I have the exact same symptoms although am on holiday abroad. No idea if Covid as don't have any tests with me but have the worst sore throat and no voice at all. I'm assuming some kind of laryngitis type bug. Horrible wheezy itchy feeling In the top part of my chest (more voice box area than lungs) and painful dry irritated cough which hurts my throat even more. No fever at least but I've almost gone through all the painkillers I brought with me.

First holiday in 3 years and used money my mum left me when she died to treat myself and dc to a lovely all inclusive hotel. I've worked in the NHS throughout the pandemic and not been poorly once!!! Just absolutely bloody typical I would get ill now during this holiday I have been looking forward to for so long. Grrrrr!

Sorry you are unwell on your holiday. If you find a chemist get Broncho Stop. I find it helps with mine and DDs chesty cough

Oh @nohopenoharm hope you feel better soon too, that’s really rubbish when you have waited for so long for your holiday.💐It does sound very similar to me - I’ve not had any fever either.

My throat is so tickly tonight. I can’t stop coughing & it hurts every time I do. Think I might go down & try sleeping on the sofa so I’m upright.

Sore throat and cough are key symptoms of Omicron strains BA4 and BA5.

Currently washing across western Europe, probably more so with holiday travel to and fro starting up right now.

@swimlyn thanks, I’m well aware of that so have tested repeatedly and all are negative so can only assume it is not Covid on this occasion. I had Covid around Easter this year.

Nevertheless I am taking precautions - keeping my distance from others, staying outside as much as possible, using mask if need to go indoors etc etc
