Does anyone know if doing up to 16 hrs permitted work on ESA would cause any problems or assessment with PIP? Thanks

Pip isn't means tested so you could have thousands in the bank, work full time or be unemployed it doesn't matter. What the assessment will consider is the duties you perform at work as this gives examples of your level of functioning. They should explore any adjustments made to support you at work.

As pp says it shouldn't affect PIP but they can ask at a PIP assessment about work so you don't want to be doing any work that contradicts the reasons you claim PIP.

Would starting permitted work which is very part time count as a change in circumstances for PIP and trigger a new assessment?

PIP isn't means tested but if the work you're going to be doing conflicts with the account of your limitations and issues shared when you applied for PIP, you could be reassessed.

If your condition has improved or worsened then you have to report that to PIP.

So paid work in principle doesn't affect it, but the work you do could affect it if in conflict with the information you gave when applying for or updating your PIP claim.
