I just purchased and moved into a 3-bed semi-detached c.1937 property that has been rather neglected by its previous owners. I know there is an issue with damp (having been advised by a structural engineer that the concrete base kitchen extension would continue this problem so long as it is set next to the suspended timber of the original floor without any vents).
However, being here, I am noticing that my asthma and allergies seem worse.
I have had all the carpet taken up, keep windows open for ventilation where I can. I even had a deep clean (which admittedly was a waste of money). I had someone from Envirovent come round, and they recommended a system which would cost in excess of £1k. Reading throughout old threads on here, I see people have recommended the Lofty as a cheaper, self-installed alternative.
I really don't have a lot of money to spend and all these things are really pricey. So I am wondering: is it worth it? Would anyone with these systems, or something similar, recommend them? or a cheaper alternative?
