Bit of an odd one for here, but need some advice and this was the first place I thought to turn. 😅
I had some film that needed developing and I’ve previously posted my film off without issue to a photo lab a few miles away. I recently decided to do that again - as far as I was concerned it met the requirements (size and weight) for a letter to be posted in a local post box and that’s what I had done many times before, without having to faff about at the post office. So I slapped a first class stamp on there and sent her off.
2 weeks have gone by now, and I had tried contacting the photo lab a couple of times and they’ve only just gotten back to me to say that my film never arrived and I should take it up with Royal Mail.
Now, I will say that I put my return address on both the envelope and attached to the film inside, so I thought, had postage not been enough or whatever, it would have found it’s way back to me. But it hasn’t.
What are my next steps here? I’m not well versed in taking things up with Royal Mail, but I didn’t go to a post office so I don’t have a receipt for postage or anything? I literally just have my own word. Has anyone else had anything they’ve posted out with a return address on it go missing, and if so, did it take a while to find it’s way back to you? Not sure how long it should take tbh.
And yes, I know from now on, with something as precious as film I really should go to the post office, I was just confident in my past experience of popping it in the post box.
