Question for the mathematically minded

My GCSE maths from 1997 has failed me...

I'm trying to work out the area of the yard space on this floor plan, and the length of the yard walls, but my foggy brain can't figure it out.

Would any kind MNer who isn't so geometrically challenged be able to help??

Width of dining room less width of kitchen equals width of yard. Length of yard equals length of kitchen.

You haven't got all of the information you need to determine the width. You'd need the horizontal length of wall where the stairs is to complete the calculations

You need more info - width of stairs

As above, you need the door width.

However. You can make a reasonable guess, depending on how accurate an answer you need. - you know the length, same as the kitchen, 3.4m..

The average internal door is around 80cm wide, so assuming that, the width of the yard is -

(3.38 (width of living room)+ 0.8m (door)) - width of kitchen (2.66) = 1.52m.

Thanks all! I think I can figure it out now.
