A gift for quirky friend

Not a very exciting one but I hope someone can help!

I'm looking for a birthday gift for a friend and I have no idea what to buy. She's in her thirties, doesn't drink. I've never known her to do experience days sort of things and they'd be a bit out of my price range anyway (thinking around £25?)

She's quite stylish and has a sort of quirky style. I was thinking maybe something for her house? But what Confused

(I've name changed because she also uses MN and knowing my luck something daft will happen like she suggests her own birthday present on this thread and I buy it and out myself Grin)

She likes going to gigs (metal sort of music) I'm not sure of any hobbies in particular really...she likes Netflix and going for meals and nights out Smile

Could you get her some handmade bits from Etsy? I got a friend some handmade vegan soap and a handmade mug - she loved both! Soap was from northern soap house on Etsy, and the mug was from Millie's pottery (expensive and sold out normally!) and she loved them both. Useful and both pretty around the house without being too much clutter.

Does she like books or films? If so, how about one of the ‘imaginary’ maps from Dorothy. www.wearedorothy.com/collections/maps

Aweebitdifferent · 27/07/2022 11:11

@girlmom21 she does like music but no special songs that I know of. The subscription gift looks good though!

Or there's something like this for her gig ticket stubs Lawrence Frames Black 10x10 Shadow Box Ticket Holder amzn.eu/d/hGS0JL9

Aweebitdifferent · 27/07/2022 11:14

She does, actually that's given me an idea - Get Baked are selling online now 🤔

I was going to say something from irregular choice? Purse? Could you go in with another person and buy her a small, irregular choice handbag? Shoes? Funky vase or fruit bowl? Take her for a meal somewhere quirky like a themed restaurant. Funky hair accessory, head band etc

Friends got a colleague a taxidermy class once. Clearly not for everyone, but she stuffed a squirrel!

Damnautocorrect · 27/07/2022 11:15

Other than the stylish bit you could be describing me.
flowers. I love flowers or house plants.
nice pens and stationery
house stuff I like, but only if it’s useful.
cake subscription or book an afternoon tea for both of you.

Wow, I like those! Bookmarked and set a reminder for the autumn when I’m thinking about Christmas gifts.
Thanks, @Flockameanie !

Fashiontatts · 27/07/2022 11:18

Maybe a tad impersonal, but if she likes going to gigs Ticketmaster do gift vouchers. X

murasaki · 27/07/2022 11:22

I now want a taxidermy class.

Just worth mentioning that while a shadow frame for tickets is brilliant and I’ve been happily filling mine, it was £6-8 from IKEA rather than £27.

When its someone I don't know what to buy for I get something from somewhere like this
arthouseunlimited.org/

Everything looks good, some of the designs are really fun, and some of the letterbox gifts like the chocolate are really nice

Oh my goodness! I've just had a look and sadly there's nothing like that near me - that sounds so cool!

The Dorothy site also does a lot of music related stuff so worth a look for something appropriate to her taste.

I've seen (but not tasted) these chocolate bars in real life. They are very, very beautiful.

I'm currently a bit obsessed with these cute hanging frames from Oliver Bonas. I frame pretty stamps in them. I think a set of 3 with pretty stamps geared to the individual would make a lovely gift.
