Hi, sorry wasn't sure where to put this so if it needs moving let me know! And sorry if it's a long one just want to try include everything.
Had new carpets installed recently and the one on the stairs has gripper spikes poking through on every single step. When we bought the carpet for the stairs we were told the original grippers would have to be taken up and either a shorter spiked one installed or adhesive with no grippers. We paid for the adhesive and no grippers as the carpet is a cheaper thin one but hard wearing (have 2 young Dc).
Anyway, fitters came, finished job, I paid them, they went. Only to find, after running up the stairs and stabbing my foot that they had up fitted the stair carpet to the old grippers.
I'm annoyed with myself for not checking but I assumed they would know and I was trying to keep the DC out of their way so didn't think to say.
I phoned the shop immediately to see if they could come back, but they had other jobs (fine understandable) and they have nothing until next week.
We are having to carry both DC up the stairs at the moment so they don't step on the spikes and hurt themselves. But it's awful trying to negotiate the steps safely.
I've tried hammering the spikes down but it'll take ages and potentially ruin the carpet.
Any suggestions of what I can do in the meantime would be great.
TIA
