Somewhere on the A1 from Cambridge to Doncaster

I’m making a trip from Cambridge to Doncaster to see a friend for a day. I’m thinking of making a weekend of it and camping/air b&b overnight and spending a day somewhere.

I’ll have a dog with me so looking for suggestions if somewhere nice to walk/hike/spend the day that allows dogs.

I’ll be driving up the A1 so somewhere off of there would be best.

Any suggestions?

Stamford? There is Burley House which has nice grounds
