£60 left over before pay day - treat myself?

I’m in a fortunate position where I will have £60 left over before pay day on Friday. Due to the cost of living increases I can’t see this being a regular occurrence!

Usually if I have any money leftover I put it in to my savings but I’d like to treat myself this time. I feel guilty in doing so and can’t think of what to buy myself. Any suggestions?

I'd put it in savings. Then if there was something I fancied further on in the year when things were really tight I'd remember the £60 and be glad I put it to one side.

What do you like?

A book and a bunch of flowers?

New bra?

Something nice to eat or drink?

A meal out?

traintraveller · 26/07/2022 18:18

I'd spend up to half, maybe on a new book and a nice bottle of wine and save the rest.

Spend half, save half.

Moaningturtle1 · 26/07/2022 18:18

I’d spent it on something that will make a difference come winter and higher heating bills. A heated blanket, fluffy socks and hot water bottle or cashmere wrist warmers.

Makeup, hair treatments, nice bubble bath, things to make you feel nice Smile

DelisButAlsoCrime · 26/07/2022 18:20

Personally I would book myself in for a facial or massage, if that’s your kind of thing?

Lightningboltpink · 26/07/2022 18:24

Thanks for the suggestions! I like the idea of spending half and saving half. I might treat myself to a beauty treatment

I would go have a tarot reading, get a tattoo or piercing, or get a pedicure.

If you can't think of something you want now I'd put it in a separate savings pot for when something you do really want comes along. I have a Le Creuset savings pot with a grand total of £40 in it so far Grin

Underwear
A new dressing gown if you need one
Make up
Put it by for the autumn of you need new boots or a jacket or coat.
Bedding

balalake · 26/07/2022 19:01

Save it. Might cover a few days of the energy price increase in the autumn.

Whatwouldnanado · 26/07/2022 19:05

Save 50.00 and use 10.00 for treats It'd be a trip to the charity shop for me with a 5.00 for a couple of paperbacks, perhaps a top or something. Then spend the rest on a face mask and other pamper stuff.

LadyHelenaJustina · 26/07/2022 19:17

If I couldn't think of something I really wanted, I'd keep it and treat myself when inspiration struck.

Nothing worse than finding something you really do want in a month's time, and you've already frittered it.

BergamotMouse · 26/07/2022 19:41

If it was going to be a rare thing to have money left over before a pay day I would honestly add it to my savings. I know that's not what you're asking but I think things are going to get very tough in the coming months.

LadyKenya · 26/07/2022 19:50

If you cannot think what to buy, then that says a lot. Save the money, winter is not that far away.

Wheretheskyisblue · 26/07/2022 19:51

I would put it in premium bonds as then you have it saved plus the excitement of wondering if you have won each month.

Another good idea actually! I’ve got premium bonds already but had to withdraw a number of them for home improvements. I’m leaning towards doing this and using it when I see something I want

You’ve just reminded me I’ve got a £20 M&S food voucher that I got as a gift!

Spend it all. Life is too short.

I'd spend £60 on an expensive candle, or a nice diary and pen, or a nice T-shirt.

Treat yourself.

hellsbells99 · 26/07/2022 21:00

I bought myself a nice pair of jeans at the end of last month - treat yourself
