A few days ago, there were reports from several people on my local Nextdoor website that a Jersey Tiger moth had been spotted. And today, I too, was delighted to get a visit.
They are really handsome insects, and used to be on the Scarce list, but now seem to be more common, especially in the South.

Second one on my patio doors (excuse my reflection!) and it’s still there an hour later.

It has quite made my day!

I’ve had one in my garden two nights ago - bedfordshire.

Ooh they're very fancy! How lovely.

I've seen at least one in my garden in Surrey. might have been two, or the same one in two places!

I saw one in South London a few days ago. I was delighted too. Never saw these when I was a kid, and they are quite handsome.

It’s obviously a Jersey Tiger year!

There used to be what was called a ‘Clouded Yellow’ year (butterfly) where they would fly over from the Continent in their thousands, but they rarely got as far as Surrey where I am.

it’s lovely to read that others have seen them too.

Oooh, that's very fancy. I think I've seen more moths in the garden this year. Nothing as swish as that though.

are the orange on the underside?

I saw one yesterday in South London, thought it was a small butterfly.

Yes, orange to red. Mine was more orange, very obvious when they fly.
