Has anyone tried one of those Brazillian steakhouses?

The kind where they carve various types of meat onto your plate and have a bunch of sides to go with it? Are they worth the money? It's for a small birthday gathering.

TIA

Been to one in Manchester. Top tip from a mate before we went, have minimal portions of the early options as they bring out the cheaper cuts first, be patient and the nicer ones (fillet etc. appear).
We had an excellent time when we went as a group

Yes, it’s a bit of a talking point and the food is quite nice, as long as you are all meat eaters! Wouldn’t go every week but nice for something different.

FrownedUpon · 26/07/2022 17:35

They’re definitely quantity over quality. The meat isn’t great in my experience and there’s only so much meat you can eat before you feel ill.

psychomath · 26/07/2022 17:36

I went to one as a vegetarian and loved it! It was for an event where I had no choice over the restaurant so I thought it was going to be crap, but the salad buffet was amazing and I ended up going back several times after. So if you like meat it's probably even better Smile

Are there any restaurants like this in the London area that anyone can recommend?
I’ve just googled Fazenda but there are none near me.

The O2 at Greenwich has ridizio rico (or something like that) which serves that. Its delicious!

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/07/2022 17:49

@Damnautocorrect why does halal make you ‘out’?

anybloodyname · 26/07/2022 17:53

Been to the one in Bristol.. was ok .
Enjoyed it but not desperate to go back - tables very tight together , music loud , meat was mix of fantastic to just ok , some sides are better than others , staff were good , nice to try but not in a rush to go back ..

It's great for groups as it's a set payment and you can just do drinks separately. I have always enjoyed it but I don't get my money's worth as I can't eat a lot in one go (that's obv not their fault). Prefer Fazenda over Bem Brazil and I'm sure there are others that are lovely too.

My Brazilian XDH and I used to go to Rodizio Rico in London years ago - think there's a few now and don'tknow how it stands up to the new ones, as it seemed to be the only one around at the time.

We went to the one in Plymouth and really enjoyed it. The food was very good, but I think the novelty factor probably played a part. Not somewhere we’ll go regularly, and probably best for a group rather than just a couple.

KenAdams · 26/07/2022 19:52

Yes I love it, Fazenda is far superior to others though.

@Damnautocorrect why does halal make you ‘out’?

Because I don’t agree with the slaughter process.

Damnautocorrect · 26/07/2022 22:42

For clarity I’m a vegetarian in a family of carnivores. So I buy the highest welfare we can afford for them, and have been to places like the Brazilian bbq type places (luckily I’m an avid chip eater!) but not if they are halal. Whilst a lot is stun, not all of it is. And the process is longer then non halal slaughter houses.

Being Brazilian, I have an opinion Grin we went to one in Paddington and found it meh - I looked it up but it seems to have closed - but Viva Brazil in Cardiff was really good. The concept is good if you like meat but quality will vary.

I agree with PP that CAU was really good but I thought it had closed years ago?
