Urgent help needed. Passport

My 3yo son’s passport has not arrived and we are due to travel on Friday. We applied over 10 weeks ago and have been on the phone to the passport office general helpline several times over the last week or so. Does anyone have a direct number for a department that might be able to help us? Depending on who we speak to we get different answers and they sometimes can tell us the passport hasn’t yet been printed and sometimes they say they can’t find the application at all. They have put in requests for an urgent callback for us but it hasn’t happened. Any advice very gratefully received.

Most of the telephone routes get nowhere despite the given advice from HMPO and the consensus is plonk yourself at a passport office despite the chaos as it seems the only way to resolve. Just recieved DS's renewal after applying beginning of May, some have been stuck in the system since Feb/March.
