Harry Potter days out

Can anyone recommend a Harry Potter themed day out that isn’t the studio tour? No tickets left for summer and it’s a bit out of our price range for now. So are there any other Harry Potter themed days out in the Uk? X

If you're anywhere near South Wales there's this place

Little cafe in Neath, the garden is all Harry Potter themed, my daughter loved it when she was about 10.

Obviously not a day out as such but if you're in the area, then its definately worth a look.

There's the photographic tour here
And I think there's a walking tour in London too but not 100% on that one.

Or look up filming locations and visit them.

The Watercress Line (steam railway) in Hants is fun. The carriages are similar to those in HP and at one of the stops they have the bridge that is used in Kings Cross in the film.

Edinburgh has Harry Potter walking tours where they take you too the Elephant cafe where she wrote the book, the real Tom Riddles grave ect.
Alnwick castle in Northumberland is where the filmed the first 2 movies and is really magical.

You could visit Gloucester cathedral.

Gloucester Cathedral! Several famous scenes were filmed there and they have a Harry Potter tour leaflet and QR codes you can scan to see the film scenes in front of the locations.

My husband took our youngest to London and they did their own walking/tube tour of locations used for filming and ended up at Platform 9 3/4, had a picture with the trolley there and went into the shop.

York- we did a potions experience which the kids loved, went to the harry potter shop and minced round the shambles. Lots of other lovely things to do in York too!

The main hall at Hardwick was in Harry Potter.

Alnwick castle where they filmed the first 2 films does broomstick training which is really fun.

You can go on a train in the highlands that goes over the bridge that the hogwarts express goes over.

autumnboys · 26/07/2022 09:45

I think they did this one.

My DD6 big HP fan (like her mother!!) - definitely would recommend York and also you can go up to Goathland which is the trainstation for Hogwarts in Philosophers stone.
