Hi all.

I have an old Welsh dresser that has been sanded ready to paint. I was just about to order the Annie Sloan chalk paint but it turns out to be really expensive!

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a cheaper alternative? Im looking for a matt finish, and am a beginner so preferably a paint that is easy to use! Also would prefer something that doesn’t need to be sealed with a wax.

Thanks in advance!

I have used ordinary matt emulsion to great effect but you need to undercoat it forst and then rub down again. You might also want to look at Frenchic but its not cheap and I find it a bit gloopy.

i found the most incredible paint - Dulux Trade eggshell. I buy it at the builder's merchant & they mix the colour I want. It paints on like cream, lies flat very easily, is very matt yet also wipeable for marks. It's also high opacity. One coat obliterates almost everything but I do two for perfect coverage.

i don't undercoat with the Dulux Trade Egg

Frenchic stuff is amazing and self leveling!
