If you are a heavy user of social media

If you're a heavy user of social media (esp Insta, Facebook) are you happy in life generally?

I use social media too much. I’ll admit I’m lonely & use it to fill a gap in my life as I lack real life friends & my DH works far too much & we don’t really talk, bit sad really. Anyone else the same?

I just use it as I'm bored. I'm sure it makes me feel worse about my life though. I just get so irritated by everyone else's seemingly perfect lives and lose sight of the good things in my own. It just makes me feel inadequate. I need to wean myself off it !

Well Mumsnet is SM. I dip in and out as I do Facebook. SM isn't real, it definitely doesn't make me feel anything negative. I just want a laugh. Just can't take it seriously.

Mainly on TikTok for the free therapy...

Usually when bored. It is easier to catch up on there though but I'm starting to think friendships that are only kept going by that and not real life ,text or meet up are not worth it.

I used to endlessly scroll through FB and Twitter but it just made me feel more bored and empty. I deleted them and started reading novels instead. It takes you away from the day to day banality of life. I do still stalk mumsnet though so that’s a work in progress.

I am quite happy. I dont compare myself to others. I dont really do instagram. Fb is wonderful for local information. Twitter is great for politics and cute animals. Mn is for something resembling a conversation.

I kept the ones that made me happier (Mumsnet and Reddit) and deleted the ones that made me feel shit (Facebook and Instagram). To be honest I wish I could give up these too as I know I enjoyed life more when I filled the little gaps in life with novels rather than scrolling.
