I need a good magazine!

I'm being induced soon and need something to keep me occupied during early stages.

I've bought a new book and downloaded a few films and TV shows I'm interested in watching. I'm interested in getting a few magazines but I haven't bought any magazines for years. I don't like gossip, chat or fashion mags particularly, so is there anything else out there?

I really like The Lady. It has interesting and informative articles aimed higher than "what are the love island contestants wearing today", puzzles "The Ladygram" and highly entertaining Situations Vacant - basically ladies seeking staff.. "Mrs C seeks a live in housekeeper to dust her extensive collection of original Chippendale furniture, oversee other staff of 27 bedroom castle and do light meal preparation including banquets for 30. Coachhouse accomodation provided"

I like Psychologies magazine, although I haven't seen it recently (not looked hard either!) Also really like The Week which is a news magazine but has an interesting take on current affairs.

I read Ideal Home and 25 Beautiful Homes.

Something like Prima maybe - has a mix of articles but not gossipy ones, house/garden, books etc and a bit of a puzzle section for when you get bored of reading

If you have a library card download the Libby app and you'll have plenty magazines to choose from for free.

I signed up to the Lady weekly email purely so I can read the adverts.
My secret pleasure every Friday

I occasionally buy something a bit more independent…. Simple Things is quite wholesome and slightly hippie-ish….. food, travel, some kind of craft such as knitting with yaks wool, interiors but will be someone’s summer cabin in Norway…. You get the gist. If you like quirky and indie then Frankie is a pretty good Australian title and Bust is a slightly sweary feminist American title that features lots of music / film etc.

I agree with both Lady magazine and Psychologies, if you are interested in interiors Ideal Home is quite good. People miraculously transforming run down cottages into magnificemt show homes. Wish I had the energy

I'll have to have a look out for some of these. I used to read Psychologies magazine but haven't seen it in a while. I wondered if it went subscription only.

@Fluffyfluffflufffluff that sounds interesting from a quick Google search. Do you know where you can get it without subscription?
