What computer and playstation games do your dds play?

I have a 6 year old dd and a 8 year old ds. My ds has always played on sports games. My dd also likes playing on the playstation as well but I'm having trouble finding games that are more girly (she is quite girly). We have a playstation 5- we also have a playstation 2 from when I was younger (I still have loads of games for this but I've held off setting this up for them as I wondered if it's just too old now!). I was just wondering what your dd's like playing on the playstation. Also, we have a windows computer and was wondering if there are any games that your dd's like to play on them too. I might be wrong but it seems like there were more options for girls gaming 20 years ago! Also, if you have any old consoles (like the ps2) do you let your children play on them when they are quite outdated?

Minecraft not “girly” though

boomboomshaketheroom2022 · 25/07/2022 17:41

@BiscoffSundae Thank you for your reply! She tried Minecraft at a friend's house and really didn't like it! She seems to be the only one though as I've heard so many people say their kids love it!

I'm not answering your question but Animal Crossing came to mind. It's only on the Switch though 🙈

I've just bought my DS Rabbids party which is cartoony and would suit both your kids. Defo on multiple platforms.

I'm not too sure what you mean by girly, but generally cartoon character games would be suitable, for boys too though. Things like Mario, Sonic etc. My nephews have a PlayStation and tbh there isn't much for their age.

My DD is 7 & she likes playing these on our Switch:

Stardew Valley
Animal Crossing
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Hyrule Warriors
Kirby & Friends
Pokemon Shield
Pokemon Go!
Mario Kart

Not sure if any of those are available on PlayStation/PC.

MystikSpiral · 25/07/2022 17:55

We have a PlayStation and a Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation gets hardly any use. But the Switch gets loads, by DD. She likes Animal Crossing mainly, but others like Splatoon, minecraft, Mario Kart and Hatsune Miku (dancing and singing game) and Pokemon. My DS loves Just Dance, it's the only game he's ever shown any interest in , but he can spend hours on it (he's 8). Neither like sports games really.

My DD is quite taken by that Stray game that just came out on PlayStation, its about a cat. She also likes Minecraft and Roblox and we are eagerly awaiting the release of the new Hogwarts game, hopefully in time for her to put it on her Christmas list.

PhotoDad · 25/07/2022 18:03

My DD mainly played on the Switch, too! But I know that Stardew Valley is available for the PC and she loved that.

MordinVasNormandy · 25/07/2022 18:07

The sims might count as girly. Not sure how good of a PC you'd need to run The Sims 4 though but I think there's a PS4 version. Stray which just came out is supposed to be good. Also try the story of seasons and harvest moon series, basically games where you run a farm. Maybe Stardew Valley too but haven't played it so don't know how appropriate it is for kids.

Old consoles are great, set up your ps2!
On ps5 she might like
Badland, Super Luckys Tale, Spyro, Just Dance, Rayman, Crash Bandicoot, Rachet and Clank, Yooka-Laylee, Stray, Minecraft, Overcooked, All the lego games, Dreams, Little Big Planet, Shovel Knight, Sonic Mania, Unravelled, Ori and will of the wisps, Bugsnax.

My 8 year old girl enjoys The Sims, which is available on PS4 so I’m assuming you’ll get it on PS5 as well. She mostly designs the actual sims and their houses rather than actually playing but it keeps her entertained for hours.

What about Little Big Planet 3? Both my kids like it, platform game so pretty easy to actually play and the characters are cute. Each game is it’s own story so it won’t matter that she’s not played the 1 & 2.

icebearforpresident · 25/07/2022 19:03

Also, if you have Simpsons Hit & Run on the PS2 get out the old console! It’s one of the best games ever!

boomboomshaketheroom2022 · 25/07/2022 19:16

@icebearforpresident Yes I do have The Simpsons Hit and Run!!! I absolutely loved it in the 2000s! Me and my sister used to spend hours playing it! My kids watch the Simpsons so I might have to get the ps2 set up for them!

Minecraft and Lego - Star Wars, Avengers, Harry potter or any of the other 'Lego' games.

Nintendo based, Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Pokemon and Mario Kart.

ScampiFlies · 25/07/2022 19:28

Mine (just turned 7) enjoys Minecraft, Lego games and Viva pinata although I think that might be Xbox only. Dh keeps talking about Simpsons Hit and Run and I think she'd like little big planet. We also have a switch with animal crossing but that is a bit too reading heavy for her just now even though she is keen.

All the above plus
Minecraft roblox and cup heads

Sackboy is quite colourful and fun (not specifically girly but likely to appeal to boys and girls.) See also Astro's Playroom.
