I’ve name changed and have been following this tragic case. Can someone please explain to me why this vile pair won’t be going to jail? How does this mother get to rebuild her life having snuffed out her beautiful girls?

im sorry for the Daily Mail link but they seem to be the ones that have covered the case www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11046629/Mother-guilty-death-baby-daughter-shaking-10-week-old-violent-attack.html#comments-11046629

Well they are saying its because the balance of her mind was disturbed after giving birth I guess they must have medical evidence she suffered with severe postnatal depression and or post partum psychosis
When I was a mental health nurse ,,I was aware of a similar situation,,a patient had post partum psychosis," recovered "and was discharged from the mental health unit ,and several weeks later smothered her child ( this was 20+ years ago and I'm no longer a nurse she was also found guilty of infanticide and didn't get a custodial sentence and tbh I don't think it would have been in anyone's interests to give her a custodial sentence

And the father who was there at the time?

The whole thing stinks. Shes free to crack on and have more babies but couldnt keep this one safe for even one week. I dont feel sorry for her or the father who was there at the time. Its a joke.

The father was the one who rang 999 when he realised what happened. His own father was talking on the radio this morning.

And OP if she has anymore babies they will be removed from her at birth.

The Infanticide Act 1938 makes provision for instances where a woman causes the death of her child who is aged under 12 months, but where medical testimony demonstrates she was suffering from what we now call severe post natal depression or psychosis, meaning at the time of the act the balance of her mind was disturbed by reason of her not having fully recovered from the effect of giving birth to the child.

It’s broadly a good thing that we increasingly recognise the mental as well as physical toll of pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood on women. What good comes of imprisoning somebody ill rather than bad?

She told the social worker to take the baby.
The father knew the baby was blue, floppy and not eating before the collapse.
Social worker's annual vacation bad timing.
Social services need better funding.
Mother should have been further monitored in mother + baby unit. Was clearly sleep-deprived.
The volatility was a massive red flag though, which makes the sentencing hard to take I admit.

Only a week at home not even a week I dont think. 10 weeks of being cared for. I dont care what the grandad said had Lili even met any of her grandparents? The staff shouldve been listened to.
