Do you not have to buy an adult meal for £5 first? So you could buy the ingredients for several tasty nutritious lucnhes for that. Not saying it's a bad thing that Asda are offering it, but it's being touted by some (including the government) as an amazing cost-saving measure for families on a tight budget.

WhosthatGirlJess · 25/07/2022 15:21

You don't need to purchase an adult meal @rbe78

WhosthatGirlJess · 25/07/2022 15:23

Most places do require adult purchase but not Asda. Wish I one with a cafe closer!

This meme has annoyed me no end, not because of it in itself but because people are doing the promotional work for big companies and acting like they are helping people in need. I run a village Facebook group and go into a huge argument when I disallowed this as a post. We don't have any of these places within walking distance, and the one that are within a bus ride would cost more to get there and buy the meals than to go to the village supermarket and buy food. Yet I received blackmailing messages about all the poor children in the village with "hungry tummies". It made me rage. Community food pantry, I'll support that. Free meals, I'll support that. I'll put my money and my time where my mouth is. But I will not clog up my group with what is essentially disinformation for local people (out closest Asda doesn't have a cafe) just to make someone feel they have done something good.

@WhosthatGirlJess That's fab, well done Asda!

I used to take my son to the Asda cafe near us but it's now a Mac Donald's 🙄

I love ASDA cafe, took my three children yesterday and only paid £2 for my two eldest to have a hot meal each (the baby snaffled a few peas from their plates)

Really good portions as well!
