If you've been to Borneo, would you recommend it for a holiday?

Thinking about Borneo for next summer - a bit of beach/jungle/animals. Anyone been and have any thoughts/recommendations?

Yes! Absolutely brilliant. Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak really interesting and different. We went for walks in the jungle and did a guided visit to see Orang Utans. I've seen an Orang in the wild! Just amazing. You can do river journeys on the little boats as well. Everywhere very friendly and hospitable and child friendly as well.

Fantastic! That's why I want to go - to see a Orangutan. Was it an expensive trip overall?

Definitely, amazing beaches, the caves at Multi are stunning too and the orangutans. We stopped with friends who lived there so can't really help with costs.

It depends - you can stay in lodges in the wildlife areas, and the Hilton Kota Kinabalu is very reasonable. I have no idea how things have changed post pandemic, though.
