Andre Rieu, Maastricht, what to wear?

Has anyone been?? I assumed everyone dressed up nice but looking at pics in not so sure. Will I look ridiculous in a nice dress? I have a strapped black and gold swooshy dress that's def dressy or a red fake wrap dress that's heavier material that looks more casual. Any advice??

I've never been to one of his concerts, but last time I was in Maastricht, the dress code was very casual. I never saw anyone wearing anything swooshy when I was there. Smart casual is what I would be aiming for. Something like you might wear to the theatre over here. Smart jeans, flat shoes, nice blouse, nice jacket.

A step too far then?

I don't really do jeans, I'd wear a dress to the theatre, maybe more this one then? I'm bit sad 😂 but going alone so def don't want to stand out and look silly

My parents have been several times to see him there and my mother has always worn a nice dress and low heels. Just had a quick look at their photos and can see lots of women wearing nice dresses in the background, some smart casual and others very glam! Maybe have a look at some pics or vids online from previous years and you will get an idea of what is the norm there. Both your dresses look beautiful I'm sure whichever you choose will be lovely and I hope you have a wonderful time there, I always hear about the lovely atmosphere at his concerts

It was looking that made me second guess the strapless one, esp as I need shoes. DH likes it but he's biased and won't be there as he's got our toddlers to look after 😂.

Parents in law saw him in Vienna a few years back. Mother in law wore a skirt and a nice top. Father in law trousers and a decent shirt.

I am aware I'm trying to compare my style choices with people old enough to be my parents / grandparents 😁.

Both dresses are lovely Op - I'd wear that kind of thing to the theatre or a concert.

From your Op I was picturing a ball gown 😁

I'd wear the black and gold if you want to call attention to yourself, the red if you want to blend in. The gold one looks quite short which makes it seem more casual imo.

ThreeGoingCrazy · 25/07/2022 11:39

The black and gold is handkerchief hem so knee-length at sides and ankle length at front and back.

@LaLaLouella I was desperately hoping for a dress code which demanded one!!

Someone said yesterday how lovely everyone looks in London with their colourful floaty dresses.

Dresses are fashionable now I don't think you can compare with a few years ago.
