Any suggestions for a cheap alternative to a cork board?

We're planning to try and solve the Cain's Jawbone novel over the summer holidays & had thought a cork board would be ideal for lining up the pages as we decide on their placement. But it turns out cork boards are a bit more expensive than I realised & I don't really want to spend a fortune on something non-permanent.

Any ideas for an alternative? I don't really want pages blutacked to the walls if we can help it!

Try WhiteTack instead of BluTac, it doesn't mark walls as much.

Look on marketplace etc for anyone getting rid of cardboard boxes. Open up and flatten.

Magnets and the fridge?

How big would the board need to be? I'm assuming large. Would repainting one wall (if blu/white tac marks it) be possible? Could be cheaper than a massive board which presumably you'll need to attach to a wall anyway?
