Can you help motivate me?

... to take the DCs swimming. We go every Sunday but today I cannot be bothered. It#s a pre-pay so if we don't go we lose £12.00 which is not huge obviously.
Pros
-Dcs love it but we can always do it tomorrow instead

Cons
-it's a 40 minute drive away
-i am tired and feeling low today
-i'd rather go out for lunch
-the prepay is not transferable so I could not shift it to tomorrow
-i have loads of things to do

I need to just shift my arse.

Motivational kicks up the bum most welcome. Smile

I always hated taking the kids swimming, so I don’t blame you! You’ll be glad you did it in the end, and then you could maybe plan to have a lazy day tomorrow?

Kids will burn off energy. Swimming is worth the effort.

SummerLobelia · 24/07/2022 09:38

It would be better if they swam and I could sit out, but one of mine has a range of developmental issues and literally cannot swim alone at all. We have swum weekly since September last year and he cannot swim a single stroke. But he loves bobbing in the water, bless him.

I think I need to just suck it up and do it. I can do a quick farm shop visit on the way back too and buy something yummy.

Short term pain for long term gain - you will have tired happy DC this afternoon which will give you a change to get on with stuff or sit and relax.

GodisaBC · 24/07/2022 09:40

I used to enjoy swimming as I’d sit on the side, keep an eye on them but listen to a podcast and feel like I got a break….. but going in with them is a different ballgame.
sorry I can’t give you any motivation other than you’ll lose £12 and disappoint the dc’s but I don’t blame you for not wanting to go.

SummerLobelia · 24/07/2022 09:42

love happy DCs. :)

hate losing £12 for no reason.

Sigh.

Yep. I will just suck it up. I'll probably love it in the end. :)

Good luck!
Can you have a lazy afternoon when you get back? Bath and a nice dinner that you don't have to cook?

SummerLobelia · 24/07/2022 10:52

Right. I am girding my loins.
Swimming. Then McDonalds. (The usual Sunday programme) then farm shop to buy something lovely that I do not have to cook.

I love the lazy relaxed afternoon as well. I have done the bulk of the housework so I forsee some ironing and the Downton Abbey movie in my future. Might even buy some prosecco to go with it. :)

Thanks everyone.
