Beloved toy seal lost in Chichester

SteelCicada · 23/07/2022 21:02

We lost a very much loved furry toy seal in Chichester today, probably on the street between Northgate car park (near the toilets) and Robert Dyas (we didn't get further than that before we realised he was gone). We don't live in Chichester and were terribly sad to come away without him.

Seal is about 25cm long and very slim, almost banana shaped. This can't be anything more than the craziest long shot, but if any Chichester people people should spot our dear Seal on a wall or a window ledge or something, could you let me know? Thank you.

Bump. Poor seal, I hope he gets found.

Honaloulou · 23/07/2022 22:00

Also bumping!

catandcoffee · 23/07/2022 22:05

Maybe try the NextDoor app?x

DarkFuckeryoftheHumanHeart · 23/07/2022 22:09

Join the local FB page and put it there with a picture. It's worked for us twice now!

Duchess379 · 23/07/2022 22:13

I live in Chichester, I'll post this on the Next Door app. 👍🏻

justmoimyselfandi · 23/07/2022 22:45

Bump! I hope you find the seal OP 🤞🏽

SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 06:49

Thanks kind people, the bumps and reposts are much appreciated. I haven't heard of the app but will investigate.

Seal was my DH's childhood toy, now much loved by DDs, so we're about as sad as we could be about a toy. Can't find a photo to post though. He's grey with a white furry tummy.

Try local NextDoor and Facebook pages. We're always getting posts about lost toys etc. on ours. Good luck, hope seal comes home soon!

SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 07:19

Oh I see, I can't join a Chichester Next Door group as I don't live there yet. Doesn't seem quite in the spirit to join with a fake address, so a big thank you to@Duchess379 for posting in there for me.

Can anyone recommend the best local FB page? I can't quite figure out which to use.

Son is going to uni there. Il post in the local group if I can

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 24/07/2022 07:45

Oh I felt my stomach wrench reading this OP, I so hope you find him! DS2 has a much-loved toy cat he's had since he was 6mo, he's only a grubby, floppy little cream thing that cost all of two quid in Mothercare, but the sleepless nights we've had whenever he's gone missing whilst out and about... 😬😬

The first time he went missing, I ordered Stikinz labels online with my mobile number on them, and stuck one on the cat's label. Plus I must've taken a dozen photos of the cat from all angles, ready to post online in case he went missing again. Sometimes I wonder if I was more vigilant over that bloody cat going missing again than I was about DS2 wandering off! 😅😂

Keeping everything crossed for you all OP x

SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 08:28

Thank you, @Chakraleaf - much appreciated.

@BeautyGoesToBenidorm Thanks for your kind message - it's awful isn't it. The worst thing is Seal really shouldn't have been out and about at all, he's far too precious. I think he fell out of the top of my handbag after DD asked me to look after him. DH didn't even know Seal was there 😪

@StSteelCicada oh nooooooo 😔😔 It's so easily done, sadly! Your DH must be gutted too, bless him.

I remember when DS1 was tiny, he had a cuddly toy of Sizzle from Charlie & Lola that he adored. He went missing on a walk around the village we lived in then, so I posted about it on FB - he was back with us a couple of hours later, turns out someone had mentioned Sizzle's disappearance to the local vicar and he'd led the search 😅😂

SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 11:52

Ha, awesome vicar!

Oh OP , you poor things ! We are just back from Greece and 'lost' our youngest son's cuggle toy ( Monkey ) when there. Left him in the hotel room, in his bed !
Monkey has one eye, one leg and is filthy . But we all adore him. As someone said 'he represents childhood' in our family. I was SO upset about it , seems mad.

Hotel said he wasn't in the room and only hope was he went out in the bed sheets !!! Two days later we got a mail to say they had located him . We got him back nicely washed !!!

I bet you will get him back !!!! Most people realise how much these toys can mean . I am just posting our story to give you hope x

BeenThereBoughtTheTeeShirt · 24/07/2022 12:44

Autoclaved monkey sent all the way from Greece = fabulous customer service ;-)

Duchess379 · 24/07/2022 13:16

I've had one response from someone offering to give me (you) her toy seal! 🥹💞

Duchess379 · 24/07/2022 13:32

I'll also post on as many fb pages I can. If you could find a picture, that would be awesome 🦭

SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 15:02

@BeenThereBoughtTheTeeShirt, what an amazing monkey story! It's true about them representing childhood, and for us it's DH's childhood too 😪

We didn't walk all that far down Northgate, and it was only about 15 mins before we noticed Seal missing - where can he have got too in that time? It was busy though.

@Duchess379, that is incredibly kind of that person. Please give them a massive thank you, but sadly there is only one Seal for us. I'm really struggling to find any photos (was up til 1am looking through years of family photos - WHERE IS SEAL?!), but DD did a drawing that shows his shape pretty clearly. Will post it here in a sec.

OP posts:
SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 15:10

Here's DD's picture of him. I have put it on one FB page that I found, but didn't really know what other pages were good for this sort of thing. Thanks again @Duchess379

There's a Facebook group for reuniting lost toys too. I'm trying to think of the name.

I think you may mean these:

www.facebook.com/lostteddybear

Once something is uploaded to their website, it autoposts across their social media pages.

SteelCicada · 24/07/2022 18:25

Oh, that's helpful too. Thank you.
