Stupid Spotify question

I know, im a luddite. I've never bothered with Spotify before as I don't want to pay for it and got annoyed with the ads...

Last week I've been liking the generated playlists though on my free account but I've found when I search for a single I want to play I don't seem to get the option to play that one track.

It only gives me the option to listen to that track as part of a playlist which starts on a random song - its so frustrating!

Is this just how the free account works??

Pissing me off tbh

Can work around it by adding the single to a playlist of my own making but it's a pain the backside.

That’s how the free version of Spotify works, yes. Spotify premium is definitely worth it.

I think that's how the free account works.

It's why it's free, you don't get full functionality. I love our Spotify and it would be one of the last luxuries I'd give up.

Sometimes with basic Spotify they give you eg 30 minutes of ad-free music streaming after watching an ad.

you have to bare in mind that the model of their free streaming app is designed to have all these restrictions and ads. No one would bother paying for their premium streaming model otherwise.

I’m pretty sure with Apple Music, you can’t even stream music at all unless you’ve signed up with their subscription service.

Music services aren’t free - the only way you can bypass this is if you download the music you want directly to your phone, and then play it using your native music player.

If you have Amazon prime you get a basic version of Amazon music included and while it has less variety of songs it's far more user friendly than the free version of Spotify. I'm the paid version is £1 a month cheaper too I think.

@bonkersbirdie thanks, that sounds worth a look!
