What do you think this vintage item is? (table of some sort?). Photos included

It was rescued from a skip so no idea of the history behind it.

It's about 46cm high, 30cm diameter, has a 60s feel about it, 3 metal legs with red rubbery end caps on, hole in the top.

I'd love to know what it's for. If it didn't have the hole in the top I'd just think it was a side table or plant stand or something but the hole seems to suggest it had a different use.

Any ideas anyone? 🤔

Outdoor table, hole for some kind of parasol?

MarianosOnHisWay · 23/07/2022 15:52

Is the hole for a parasol? Or a lazy Susan?

msbevvy · 23/07/2022 15:52

Could it be for a sun umbrella?

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 23/07/2022 15:52

m,ybe a little café table. hole either for umbrella or some kind of condiment stand.

It's tiny though, only knee height so too small for even a child to sit under.

It's also very spindly, so a gust of wind or the weight of an umbrella would blow it over

It looks more 70s to me and it likely was a type of floor lamp with built in table for a drink or book. The hole would have been for the wiring. The lamp part & wiring would be the most fragile and probably broke off ages ago.

Discovereads · 23/07/2022 15:57

Here is one with lamp bit still attached

My second thought, knowing what it was like I'm the sixties was something smoking related.

It seems I was right. It is an ashtray table.

Not sure how to post the image I found

Discovereads · 23/07/2022 16:01

The hole is too small and the overall table is too big for it to be an ashtray table.

Discovereads · 23/07/2022 16:02

OMG! You are right, I have never seen an ashtray table with a suspended ashtray before! Cool
