Bitten Thursday afternoon. When I drew the line round it I was drawing around a white band that was round the red. No white band now but he red has increased. Hot to touch. Hard. Uncomfortable to touch.

Do we need to do something?

Any idea what you were bitten by?

AnchorWHAT · 23/07/2022 15:02

I think i would be popping down to local pharmacy to get chemist to have a look for advice and treatment options.

TheBitterBoy · 23/07/2022 15:21

Have you taken antihistamines? If not I'd pop down to your local pharmacy and get them to advise you.

Floralnomad · 23/07/2022 15:28

I agree with going to a pharmacy and getting something for it .

HerRoyalHappiness · 23/07/2022 15:30

Yep, go to the pharmacy and have it looked at.

flashpaper · 23/07/2022 15:37

Pharmacy,
Or NHS 111, appointment for out of hours GP,
Or urgent care centre.

I wouldn't go to A&E for it unless it gets much worse or you get other symptoms such as a fever, but it definitely needs looking at and possible antibiotics.

Why?!

butterfly990 · 23/07/2022 16:16

Cellulitis looks and feels like sunburn.

LadyLaSnack · 23/07/2022 16:21

All my mosquito/horsefly bites go like this. It’s never serious. In fact when the red intensifies as with yours they are usually on the way down again. Maybe call 111 if it’s never happened to you before?

Squiff70 · 23/07/2022 16:28

You need to see a doctor urgently. If that means minor injuries so be it. Take an anti-histamine like Piriton if you can but that needs antibiotics.

upinaballoon · 24/07/2022 15:31

When I had bites that made places look like that a nice pharmacist told me to take antihistamines and I have always found them to be effective, since then. Before that I had once had so bad a mess that I had to have a short course of antibiotics. Doctors are much less inclined to give antibiotics nowadays. Have you got something for it yet/been somewhere with it yet?

No thread is complete without it!

pharmacy or minor injuries unit would be my advice

madroid · 24/07/2022 15:40

Is this an insect bite? if so the heat comes from the irritation, not an infection. Put something cool on it like a wet flannel and take a paracetamol if it bothers you.

Some antiseptic cream might help the skin.

3luckystars · 24/07/2022 15:43

Go to the pharmacy right now.

Loobyloo68 · 24/07/2022 15:51

I got bitten by a horsefly last week, my leg was hard, red and hot. Chemist gave me antibiotics , very painful to be honest, mine burst yesterday and the pain has gone🤔only had 4 of the antibiotics, they made me feel really sick.

Since OP posted over 24 hours ago I think it's safe to presume they've done something by now.
