Stranger Things - would you go into the upside down?

DH and I just got into a conversation about the bravery of the characters in Stranger Things. We discussed whether we would stick around and fight the various monsters from the upside down - like the characters do.

We both agreed we would have moved far from Hawkins after just season 1 and would be way too terrified to take on any of the monsters.

So that leads me to my hypothetical question.. if you were the kids/adults in stranger things would you brave the upside down and do what they do?! Or would you run far and fast after the first glimmer of The monsters from the Upside Down?

I would be really interested to know if anyone would go for it!

We’ve just finished S3. The storm episode was a cliche of a horror film. No way would I make the choices they made 🤣 anything involving basements or derelict buildings will only end one way….

I'm with you and your dh - I would have packed my bags as soon as the first person goes missing in s1. <whimp>

Bonjovispjs · 22/07/2022 21:14

I'm only up to the beginning of series 2, but fuck no, I'd be out of there like a shot.

Oh no way, I’d probably chuck the nearest human down there as a sacrifice and run away.

Like fuck.

We’re nearing the end of season 4 - definitely would’ve left the town after season 1 and moved to the other side of America if it was me!

11Hawkins · 22/07/2022 21:19

Season 1-3 would stick around. Season 4 with the bones crunching and the eyes bleeding, hell no!

GoodnightRain · 22/07/2022 21:20

Glad we aren't alone! Do you think anyone in real life would crack on?!

@11Hawkins Wow I'm impressed! I still think the most terrifying bit was the Demogorgon coming out of the wall in season 1! So to get to season 3 would be impressive. Would you actively fight/go into the upside down?

I'm on S2 and loving it. I would to rescue my son, I would if I was Hopper (and I would do him!) as he has nothing left to lose.
I forgive the teens as they are full of hormones but no on general I wouldn't

No chance, i would have been out of there 3 series before haha.

Doyoumind · 22/07/2022 21:39

I would to save my DC. But I reckon I would be gone quicker than Barb.

Itawapuddytat · 23/07/2022 01:17

In my late teens or early/mid twenties? Would have certainly go to the Upside Down to explore it. Yeah, crazy, I know!! I am almost 50 now. With my "now" mind, no way I'd stick around, no sirree, I'd pack my bags and get away from Hawkins ASAP ( after season 2 or definitely 3 !l) No way season 4 would have caught me there!!

yeah, I would do anything for my dc.

That’s what’s so unrealistic, none if those kids would irl 😂. But then the whole show is unrealistic so…. (I do love it though)

SashaMannDeservedBetter · 23/07/2022 09:35

Actually of course i would to save my kids but not friends, sorry 😂

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 23/07/2022 09:36

Well I often put myself into situations others wouldn't to help people. So I think I would.

Some of the choices they make are not tactical though. I'd be far more tactical and strategic about it (military background)

There's hope for Dustin. He's always prepared. He's the only one you see with a rucksack and sensible tools.

🤣 I tend to agree. I didn't think about this - I would do anything to save my kids too so when it comes down to it, I would. I hope I would pull some courage and strategic skills out of somewhere in this scenario!

If I didn't have kids who were in danger though, there's still no chance.

Just had this conversation with my teen, he says he wouldn't let me go as I'd be a liability. Cheers
