Do you ever read books and wonder if they were written by a mumsnetter?!

Reading one now that I’m sure must be written by someone on here. So far there’s been talk of a head tilt and of pearl clutching. I’m on high alert now for more giveaway phrases!

@NorWey yeah I know what you mean! I was chuckling away to myself while on the train recently while reading a recipe section in a Newspaper magazine. They had about 7 different dishes which were made from one (yes one!) whole chicken! It was about being thrifty and how to make your money (and chicken!) go further! Apparently it continually fed a family of 4 which I thought was the hilarious bit! It got ridiculous in the end but it reminded me of the 'Mumsnet chicken'...

Sometimes you see references to MN in novels and I can always tell if the novelist isn't a real MNetter.

On a similar theme I like trying to spot possible MNetters when I am out and about.

RockandRollsuicide · 22/07/2022 20:42

Stay , can't you say which one?

I try and be less descriptive now because an actual confirmed book written by a MN used the same description I use for a family member. Could be coincidence but I've only ever heard me use this

Blue4YOU · 22/07/2022 20:48

I suspect that The Housemaid was written by an Mumsnetter

That must definitely have been a mumsnetter!

I once saw someone mention their business and they were blocked from mn within half an hour. Now who knows what business they got but I love it here too much!!!!! Anyhoo it’d be great if it did someday happen that it was randomly mentioned!! Terrible someone used your description

JaneJeffer · 22/07/2022 22:03

I got fed up of that book and couldn't finish it. Hopefully there are better authors on Mumsnet!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/07/2022 22:12

There is an author on MN , can't remember her name but the book was a really good thriller. I'll have to look on my Kindle.

I’m not very far into it @JaneJeffer but I have to say it’s not grabbing me so far.

@stayathomer Im sure I’ve seen authors discuss their books on here before.

Definitely a mumsnetter! I’ve just read the line “mumsnet, but for murders”!
