Crop leggings anyone?

I've no idea about fashion, trends, anything like that, but I love the ease of wearing cool, cotton, crop leggings and a floaty top in summer.

Where can I get some decent, cotton leggings that will last?

I love the thickness of Sainsbury's luxury full length ones (bought after seeing a recommendation on here) but they don't make them in a crop version. I like mid calf rather than just below the knee.

I don't mind paying a little more for good quality, but once the price hits £20, I would need some convincing.

I live in Matalan leggings! They also sell cropped or they did last year, usually 2 for £10 and they're thin enough so you don't get too warm but also great enough quality they don't fall apart. Would size down as they are generous x

Thanks! Thin makes me a little worried though - are they see-through at all? I usually need to go for a size that is a little tight on the thighs in order to get the waist right, and I do hate it when the stretch really shows.

I have bought these in both colours .Not sure what modal is exactly but they feel like soft ,knitted cotton .Not clingy, slightly loose which is what I wanted .Wash well .They have changed my summer clothing .
I bought xxl and they are a pleasing fit ,not too tight .Couldn't tell you what I weigh but I am fat ,take a size 16 and I'm 5' 1 ".
I would say they are 3/4 length rather than capri .They finish about 4 " above my ankle .
£7 free postage .

Love leggings! Come in lots of colours and not see through. I’m wearing some right now - they are my everyday.

Pearbear · 22/07/2022 18:07

Seasalt do cropped leggings that I live in all summer. Nice and stretchy, good waistband that doesn’t roll down, variety of colours and excellent quality.

Funnily enough i just bought a pair from bonmarche with buttons on the edge which look really nice, more like trousers than stretchy leggings and I have never shopped at bon marche before but struggled buying cropped leggings in a size 20

Thighdentitycrisis · 22/07/2022 18:16

I too love a cropped legging. I like mine shorter though, are they called a capri?

used to have several pairs but they’re not popular at the moment so gave up looking

I've been looking at those for a while, but £20 including postage! Are they really that good?

They're not see through, the perfect thickness. I'm a size 18-20 and go for size 16s, they sit high too so if you have any wibbly bits they cover them well too. I promise I don't work for them, it's just hard to find decent ones! X

They arrived yesterday and are perfect, quite thick and good material, they actually look more like trousers than leggings as the buttons make them look smart.

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/07/2022 11:46

I bought some in Poundland (for £3 😁) some years ago. Still going strong.

balalake · 23/07/2022 12:46

Why not jeans or shorts, which will last a lot longer?

peridito · 23/07/2022 14:40

Soft thin leggings have a completely different look and feel to jeans or shorts .

Some people prefer this .As for longevity -I don't know of studies comparing this quality but as an anecdote ,I too have some PepCo leggings that I have used for 3 years and are in perfect condition .

Gentleness · 23/07/2022 17:51

@Zee33 , thanks! I looked at the website and the only crop ones I could see might have been jeggings - the listing was inconsistent. Maybe they aren't doing them this year.

Thanks for the recommendation @AnchorWHAT - I'm not sure if those buttons would just give me bruises though! I've got bad memories of those ankle zip details on 80s/90s jeans!

@balalake I'm looking forward to wearing jeans again, but at the moment they just don't work for me. I have to size up to get a good fit round my hips and then the wait is a good 2 inches too big. And my bloaty belly with a button right at the wrong point looks all kinds of wrong. Shorts need a kind of confidence that I'm lacking with my squat, chunky legs so I just don't choose them. Leggings are a better investment for now, and losing weight doesn't affect the fit too much.

Anyone tried the Mint Velvet crop leggings? I've seen people rave about them and they are cheaper than at LoveLeggings.

The buttons are very small and unobtrusive, could always cut them off 😁

ArabellaRockerfella · 24/07/2022 00:08

I've got some nice thick, 3/4 length ones on white, navy and black from Next.
