I feel on top of the world!.
I've been trying to sort out DH's affairs since he died a year ago. Somany companies have made it such hard work. Even if they're OK when you get through, you've waiting in a queue forever to get to that point.
I had to sort out what to do with his pension, but the provider seemed to be putting lots of barriers in place for "my protection" but whch also make them money
Today I spoke to Pensionwise and they were superb. Whilst they didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know, they made everything really clear and gave me the language to overcome those barriers.
Then when I phoned the company again, as if by magic, the barriers I've been fighting against for a year, just disappeared and they did what I've been asking for all that time. The person I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful or patient too.
Obviously, I shouldn't have had to go thorough the rest, but it's such a relief to get it done.
If you're 50+ and need any help understanding your pensions I'd thoroughly recommend Pensionwise (a free government service). He was brilliant, seemed to find just the right balance of friendly and professional and explain things in a way that was clear and easy to understand without being patronising.
It's a sorry state of affairs when good service comes as a surprise, but it was lovely today.
