Chickenpox

Would you send your teenager to their other parent if someone in that house had it?

Teen has had it already.

Just not sure if I should suggest he stays here to be on the safe side. But also he's not seen his dad, etc. much the last few weeks due to swaps, teen nights out, etc.

Bumping.

I know it's rare to catch catch it twice, but how rare?

DS has a party on Sunday, so I'm worried he could catch it today/tomorrow and pass it to others.

Am I being overly cautious? Or am I being stupid to consider him carrying on as normal.

It's extremely unlikely he would catch it again, he should be immune. I'd let him decide what he wants to do.

I think you only get chickenpox twice if you were under 6 months when you first got it or it was very mild. Chickenpox incubates for 10-20 days (usually about 2 weeks) and you are only infectious for at most 2 days before spots appear. So even if he did pick it up he couldn't pass it on by Sunday. And I would guess almost all teens at a party will have had it or been vaccinated against it.
