Social skills resources for ASD

Hello. I’ve an 8 yr old (DS) with ASD and ADHD. Quite challenging behaviour at times but verbal. Can anyone recommend any resources to help with developing his social skills? He’s quite anxious at times and is starting to show low self esteem.
thanks

Hi OP, I didn't want to read and run although my DD was diagnosed a bit later so the resources we used may be a bit old for your DS. Can you use social stories to work through various scenarios? There are quite a few free resources available although you would want to check them out first before sharing with DS.

My DD found this book helpful. This looks like a similar idea aimed at younger kids with parental support.

We also took part in a group programme based on
this manual which was absolutely pivotal in helping my DD make friends and cope with high school, she denies it was any good at all but we observed such a difference in her after the programme was finished.

Good luck, it's not easy, I hope you find something that helps

Thank you. Just ordered the first one off Amazon. Can I ask where/how did you undertake that programme?
thanks x

Take a look at the Konnect Social Skills Programme, which was devised by an autistic speech and drama teacher. I have a couple of the activity books for DS, which are great ( he isn’t verbal enough yet for the course). Link here www.konfidentkidz.ie.
