How do I find out where someone was buried?

Or if they were even buried? They may have been cremated. I don't know the exact date of the funeral. It was 5/6 years ago

Any help would be great

What information do you have? I emailed the priest at the church a friend had him new to who told me which crematorium my friend's ashes had been interred in, then I emailed the crem who told me the plot number.

I'd try asking the crems local to where your friend lived and failing that try the funeral directors.

As ElegantlyTouched said it depends on what information you have.

You could start off by doing a word google search
Name First / last
Last home address
Died
Funeral
Add in local newspaper names
Etc

Its my nan, the only details I have is her first and last names, I think I know the year of death. I know where abouts she lived and that she would probably have been cremated.

I dont live in the area either so it's pretty tricky.

Supposedly a lot of records are on deceasedonline.com but I can find neither my dad or nan so don't panic if she's not there.

I'd contact the Crematoria in the area she lived in. I'm sure they'll be able to help.

We ring the crematorium as they have the details of all burials.
Do you know the date of death ?

Plinkyplankyplonk · 22/07/2022 23:51

Thank you all, I'll call the crematorium on Monday and hope I can find where she is. Will they have an order of service on file?

Unlikely, but they will hopefully know how the ashes were disposed of if she was cremated there.

Try here:

If she lived and died in Scotland, you should be able to search for her death and order the death certificate on-line. Having the date of death will make it easier to find out where she is buried, or if cremated.
