Can I negotiate wages in an interview?

Posting here as more traffic. Hopefully I can get more opinions.

Without giving too much away, I have an interview coming up very soon at one of the big supermarkets. It’s just a retail assistant position at £10 per hour on an 8 hour shift 2 days a week. This is 15 hours in total (taking away unpaid half hour lunch on each day).

Now, my son goes to nursery and to qualify for his 30 hours at nursery I must earn the equivalent of working at least 16 hours a week which is £152 a week.

This job is £2 short a week.

Would you discuss this in an interview or this an absolutely no no? I’ve been in the same job for 12 plus years and I have never had a job interview before so I am certainly lacking knowledge in interview do’s and dont’s.

Of course this is all hypothetical because I may not even get the job anyway!
Thank you.

If you get offered the job, by all means negotiate your salary.

I've been doing interviews recently and some companies start with the question "what's your salary expectation?". If they didn't ask, don't bring it up until they offer you the job

Wait until you get an offer and then negotiate -in my experience more likely to get the role and the higher wage.
