Ebay help please

Ebay changed something in their algorithm earlier this year, something to do with the way that pageviews are counted. Ever since then I've sold practically nothing and had next to no views, when I used to sell 2-4 items per month (I don't do auctions - just list everything as Buy It Now and let them sit there for however long it takes).

Does anyone know how to get around this problem? I got in touch with the Ebay chat help but they were no help, just told me to list more stuff, which I did, but the new listings still have no views.

And please no comments like "That's why I left Ebay and moved over to Depop" etc - I'm really not up for that.

I would end the listings and relist them. Your listings will then come up on "newly listed" which may help your visibility.

It won't hurt as you'll lose the "unviewed and unsold" history that you've currently got.

Also compare your items to similar completed ones to make sure your item is in the right price ballpark, tweak your title.

Before you do this, clear your cookies and log out of eBay. Do a search for your item (don't use the exact title you've given it) and see which page it comes up on. If it's not on the first page of results it is not being seen.

Relist with new photos
make sure it’s in the correct category and can be kind when searching
make sure the description is good
Check the price and postage is similar to others
let buyers make offers but price up slightly to allow for this.
I do find with eBay I need to keep selling to keep my listings wry visible and to keep selling.
The relisting trick works best.

I'm having the same problem. My items sit for ages and then a couple of things sell and then nothing for ages and repeat. It's not the way things used to sell. There seems to be a pattern now.
I believe it is so that you pay to 'promote your listing'

Just about to type this.

Yes. End listings and relist them.

I already relisted several of my items last week, and it doesn't seem to have worked. My new listings now have barely any views, some of them zero.

july-August are bad months for selling most types of things.

july-August are bad months for selling most types of things.

Apart from the one item that sold a couple of weeks ago (that had been on for ages and already had a couple of watchers), the last time anything else sold was in January! So for the whole of February to June I had no sales.

I was really put off Depop after reading about how active you have to be, constantly bumping posts etc in order to be seen. Ebay has really suited me for over ten years because of the way you could just list things and leave them there. I hate that you're now expected to be "active" on Ebay as it kind of defeats the object of why I'm there. But anyway, being active hasn't even worked for me either as my new listings haven't had any views, so I really don't know what else to do.

Vinted is fab, but I do have some eBay tips.

take the listings down and add a word or change the order of the subject eg put ‘BNWT’ at the end instead of the front. Just change something.

Allow offers on your items

Send offers to watchers

Are your prices fair? Search eBay’s sold items to judge

Make use of the listing offer weekends, I think the next one will be the week after this. You will only pay 30% fees or something if it sells so you can afford to charge a little less and get a sale.

tectonicplates · 20/07/2022 21:59

My prices are definitely fair. I've been selling for over ten years and I know what prices things go for, and I always check the sold listings first anyway.

I didn't realise that changing the order of the subject could make a difference. I'll try that next time. But at the weekend I actually listed a brand new item that I'd never listed before, the sort of thing that sells a lot on Ebay, and yet it's had zero views.

Okay I've just sent some offers to the items that have watchers. Although going from past experience, nobody has ever accepted one.

OP yes, same problem here. I posted about it at the time. I’ve had things sell in fits and starts since but still haven’t found the solution.

tectonicplates · 21/07/2022 10:51

Still no more views this morning.

OP posts:
tectonicplates · 21/07/2022 18:21

As expected, nobody has taken up any of the offers that I sent.

Im on eBay since 2003 and it went well, however I noticed last few months I get the annoying sign pop up saying that EBay now changed viewers counts.
I don’t really know what that mean?
I don’t get any watchers now either and I got 100 % positive feedback of 3000s for a more than decade.
Usually I sell about 10 + items per month but lately very rarely.
I regularly delete and re list items( every few weeks) and send offers Immediately when I got new watcher.
Also I take new clear detailed pics regularly.
im very active on EBay as it’s my only income, however it’s has been bad lately.
I also sell on Vinted but that is very slow and people expect to pay a few pennies.
I listed items on Depop but never sold anything there.
