Energy bills don't know what to do ?!

Moved into our own place in jan and we're on fixed rate for gas and electric. Got our bill today for gas and instead of paying 58 a month we're in credit and wanting to change it to £19. Believe me this would really help us with me being on mat leave but is it daft to let them drop it that low? I'm petrified we'll end up owing loads

Personally I would ask to keep it at the same to prevent a massive leap in the winter

If you fixed in January, so might be on quite a good rate and are low users, you might be OK to drop it low, as a lot of your bill will be paid by the £400 we're all getting from October and your rate shouldn't go up until next January if you took a year's fixed.

However, you must keep an eye on things and not use the lower payment as an excuse to increase your spending elsewhere as you do need to prepare for your bills to rise next year, especially if we have a cold snap in January onwards.

We pay a lot more than that and are only using half what we're paying. But I am using it as a savings account ready for the next price increases. If you can afford to keep paying £58 keep paying it
