Sore throat anyone?

Had a scratchy, sore throat since Sunday, negative lft's. Wondering if it's weather related? I feel like all I've done is gasp for air and sweat all the fluid out if my body.

I have this, since my toddler had croup last week. I assume it have some sort virus but I'm responding to it differently. He likely caught it at a local paddling pool.

I haven't been near anyone croupy 🤔 my sleep apnea had been awful in this heat too.

It could be a virus made worse by the heat. Cooler today thankfully!

Definitely! I had a really bad bout of apnea last night and think I'm still feeling the after effects.

I've had a scratchy sore throat for about 4 days - tested negative twice and then positive this morning (along with a cough/aches/headache starting).

MargaretThursday · 20/07/2022 13:03

Sounds like covid. Dd tested positive as her sore throat got better.

JorisBonson · 20/07/2022 13:36

Literally no other symptoms (apart from being uncomfortably hot and wishing I didn't have hayfever) - been testing for 4 days now and nothing.

Had it for a week. Negative LFTS.

Kittycaz · 20/07/2022 13:44

I've got sore throat and runny nose I think it's hayfever related as many of my relatives are in the same boat. Maybe the heat has made the pollen worse. Am hoping for some rain see if that helps.

What it could be is as a result of using a fan too much.

Sounds strange but it's true.

I bought myself a tower fan last year and had it running for hours on end, developed a sore throat (and had not been out and about at all) and after searching discovered the link between the two.

Hence have not bothered with fan this summer.

Yeah it could be! I have been sitting in front of fans since Sunday morning 😂

I sometimes get a sore throat with hay fever, or if I sleep in an air conditioned room.

TooManyPJs · 20/07/2022 14:20

I've had mild sore throat since the weekend. Husband positive for covid on Sat. Tested negative everyday since then suddenly sore throat got really bad last night and I tested positive this morning.

emmathedilemma · 20/07/2022 14:28

I had a sore throat which then turned into a very snotty nose but all LFTs have been negative. This is the second such cold I've had since I had covid at the end of the March! Both felt like I was starting with covid again but haven't tested positive and haven't had the headache and tiredness I had with covid.

Emmelina · 20/07/2022 14:36

I’m just over a bout of covid, finally had my first -VE LFT today.
I started with symptoms on the Sunday, didn’t get a +VE until Tuesday. I’m sure my exposure was Friday overnight (DD’s sleepover guest). So this variant does seem to be taking a while to show up. An LFT late Monday night was a very clear no, but Tuesday morning it was screaming at me.
started off with sore throat on the Sunday, a sort of sinusy headache joined it on Monday along with a bit of a cough.

Starburst8 · 20/07/2022 14:40

I've had a sore throat since weekend, very hard to swollow and feel like my glands are swollen. I've also had manky (weepy/sticky) eyes too.
Not Covid so I'm assuming it's Hayfever, though piriton only takes the edge off slightly.

I had a scratchy throat and tested negative for 4 days then tested positive on the the night of day 4

JorisBonson · 20/07/2022 14:50

Bah, will keep testing!

Sideorderofchips · 20/07/2022 15:38

Yes and lft negative. I suspect its from the fan I use by my bed

JorisBonson · 20/07/2022 18:02

Still negative. I'm thinking it's the fan too - they've been on for days. Hoping a fan free night will sort me out. Ibuprofen has helped!
