What could be wrong with my neck/gum/tooth/head

I’m going to phone the dentist when it opens but in the meantime I’m just wondering if anybody else has experienced this. It starts with an ache in my gum/tooth (I had root canal treatment in the same one if that’s relevant) then it turns painful radiating from the side of my neck, then my jaw then to just above my ear then it’s like my head locks🤔 and I can’t move it for a few seconds. It’s that strong it wakes me up every night

TMJ?

Is it the kind of pain that would make you beg someone to cut off your head? Nerve pain, like neuralgia? I had aching, kill me now, pain through the bones in my face for almost 8 months before another doctor stopped the antibiotics (for sinusitis I didn't have) and put me on gabapentin. Pain free within a day. Might be worth asking about if there's no infection.

Maybe an infection/abscess? I remember the relief of a dentist draining one for me, I'd had antibiotics thinking it was a sinus thing but it wasn't.

I’d opt for infection or a badly done root canal (I’ve got 3) each have had problems over the years. Also could even be ear infection.

Sounds like TMJ, try some massages for it and see if they help. If mine is really bad I get shooting pain in the nerve.
