How can I get internet on my ds iPad away from home?

We just use WiFi at home but I'm doing some long journeys so would like him to be able to use it for then. How can I get internet on it without buying him an actual contract ?

Use your own phone as a hotspot and connect the ipad to that.

Yep this but it probably won’t work well on journeys - we had that issue last week. Worked fine in the holiday accommodation but the minute we went in the car it wouldn’t stay connected.

I agree to using your phone as a mobile hotspot as long as you have enough data to support his usage.

We do this all the time and works fine unless your in a an remote area with no signal, in which case nothing would work.

Anyone got an idiots guide how to do this please?

What kind of phone do you have?

So go to your settings and click personal hotspot.

Then press allow others to join.

It should show a password.

Go to the iPad - settings - Wi-Fi

let it find new Wi-Fi connections, your phone will show there.

Click on it (your phone name), enter password

Done 😊

All of the above is assuming you have an iPhone

Can you download in advance? What is it you want him to be able to do?
If I'm going on a long flight I just download a film/box set episodes before I go.
If you're going down the hotspot route it will be cheaper to temporarily increase your data for a month rather than risk going over your plan

If you have a cellular iPad you can just buy a payg sim and top it up. The sim does have to be set up in a phone but then you can put it in the iPad.

Be aware just how much data he will use especially if it’s watching anything such as you tube.
