Can you help me with decor?

I've cleared lots of clutter and now have space to put some decorative items on shelves and window sills.
I've got a few picture frames but what else can I put for example on shelves with books to make it look more interesting and decorative?
I just don't have a knack for these things at all.
I have lots of blank walls as I have no idea what to put on them.

Do you have Instagram? Search #shelfie and you’ll get some ideas as to how people style their shelves.
it will all be down to personal taste.
i have an alcove with shelving with some coffee table style books (the white company book being one, and a star wars history of making of the films being another, candle in interesting holder, ceramic tall danish shouses, a photo of the family, a couple of prints in difference sizes, more candles.
all spaced out and not cluttered, 2-3 things per shelf really

I would suggest creating a Pinterest board or just taking a few screenshots of rooms you like online to get a feel for what you like. Then try to replicate what you like about those rooms. Or post here some examples of styles you like and we can help. It’s nice to also have stylish things that are functional but tie into your decor.

Another option is to look at pictures on H&M home, Zara home etc for styled rooms that you like and buy items from there. Sainsbury’s has some surprisingly cool decor in their larger stores.

Do you like plants as decor? I can recommend some that are virtually impossible to kill!

Thanks for those suggestions. They look like great places to get ideas.
I love plants but I do end up killing them unfortunately.
