Bleeding while using Canesten - should I continue using it?

Reposting here as I'm not getting any answers on the Women's health board.

I'm on holiday and staying with my boyfriend. The first time we had sex my vag felt itchy way up inside. A couple of times after that and it still felt itchy so i went to the pharmacist and she gave me Canesten cream with an applicator for 3 days' use.

I've used it two nights now but today I've woken up to quite a bit of bleeding down there. Is it the Canesten causing it and should I use itv again tonight, or stop using it altogether?

I'm thinking could it be my period two weeks early? It's been unpredictable lately as I'm peri-menopausal but I'm not sure it is that. I think its more likely the yeast infection or a side effect of the Canesten.

Any advice greatly appreciated! I don't have a doctor here of course because I'm abroad, so not sure what to do. I haven't had thrush since I was a teenager and never used Canesten before.

I hate to say this, but you and your boyfriend may have chlamydia and/or gonorrhoea (or both), as these cause bleeding between periods and you are experiencing vaginal itchiness/discomfort after sex. You both need to get a full STI panel done.
