Brazenly mumsnetting in the hope of some help finding an expedition this summer - problem is we only have one week free!
My DD1 started her practice expedition last Monday for Gold DofE in Dartmoor and her and another girl started to feel poorly and tested positive for Covid :( cue me having to drive down there on Tuesday night (a mere 3 hours there and 3 hours back) to pick them up.
Teacher in charge has since told me that she will not be able to do the real expedition on the 29th August as she has not done the practice one.
He sent me a link for one provider whose courses are mostly booked up and one - in the Breacon Beacons ( ideal location for us) available but not doable as we are not around.
This provider was adventure-expeditions.net - i guess there are other providers?
It is going to cost a lot more too i think which is not good news!
The week she can do is the week beginning 1st August.
Apologies if this sounds like i am lazy :)
Am i clutching at straws or is there hope out there? I know she could do next year but think she would really like to do the real expedition with the group she has been training with. Such bad luck to get Covid :(
