Anyone else suffering from a hideous IBS flare up in this heat?

I have swelled up to the size of a balloon. Everything coming out of me is liquid. I barely ate yesterday as it was so bloody hot and it’s still exactly the same!

I’ve drunk excessive amounts of water, topping up with electrolytes and using buscopan but none of it is helping.

Any tips to calm it down a bit (or just some sympathy will do!)

You have my total sympathy @Haurchefont I have ulcerative colitis, extreme heat is an absolute nightmare for me, I am flaring so badly right now.

The only thing I would say is to try and eat little and often, things like toast and dry biscuits, keep drinking water (absolutely no alcohol), sounds delightful I know but I think not eating causes your gut to 'speed up' once you do iyswim? Good Luck for today Flowers

Thank you, I’m sorry you’re suffering too!! 🙁

Alcohol has always been a big nono for me as much as I’d love a frozen cocktail or 8 right now

Have had a banana for breakfast and will try and eat bits and often… it’s hideous, I can only imagine how bad it is with UC 😢

100% honestly hadn't even clicked that it was the heat until I saw this - I just assumed it was something I had eaten...

massive sympathy for you OP, hope today is better xx

Have you tried camomile tea with some honey in it? I find it sooths my tummy during a flare up. I also make a big rice pudding with soya milk and snack on that until things calm down. I really feel for you, it's utter misery.

Oh and silicol gel really helps.

Has to be the heat. It happens to me every time I go abroad too!
