Hi
I was wondering if I could get an Oyster card if I don’t live in London or do I have to buy a visitor Oyster card? Thanks.

It's not answering your question, but you know you can use a contactless card instead of an oyster card?
From the TFL website - Do you have a contactless payment card?
If you plan to use pay as you go, travelling with a contactless payment card is a good alternative. You don't need to top up your card before you travel or worry about running out of credit. Pay as you go fares and daily caps are the same as Oyster.
If you travel enough you will also benefit from Monday to Sunday capping, which means that purchasing a weekly ticket is not required.

You can use your contactless bank or credit card if that helps to save getting a visitors oystercard

Thanks for the reply’s I’m getting one for my son who doesn’t have a contactless card. So he would top up using cash. I’m not sure if a visitor oyster would arrive in time so was wondering if he could just buy a Oyster card when he arrives in London.

You can buy one easily. I’ve done it a couple of times when visiting London.

How old is he? You can get one at any mainline station and if he is between the age of 11-15 you can get a child visitor discount put on it so it is cheaper than using contactless. Under 11 is free.

Ok great. Can you buy one from any tube station?
