Does anyone else winder if Jen and Ben broke ip originally due to race/media coverage but never really ended it

Think back- there was a LOT of criticism of their relationship. Back then it wasn’t as socially acceptable to have a mixed marriage. After they Broke up, he quickly married someone call Jen, and she married someone from her culture.

So, probably overthinking but was I the only one to wonder if they made a pact to get back together later? Congratulations to them both btw

I doubt it. Ben is an alcoholic and he looks completely wasted all of the time, he also looks utterly miserable. I think Jennifer Garner had a lucky escape and this marriage won’t last.

@lickenchugget I think he did go for her on the rebound (also his star was highest about that time) but I can’t help but wonder if she didn’t push that and is responsible for some of his problems. There’s a lot of rumours that her “nice” image is a ruse and she’s actually quite controlling.

Not in a “being rude to Jennifer Garner way” and apologies for that. More of a finishing it despite still love ng each other because of the media heat and worries over how a mixed marriage would be perceived. That’s not to say they didn’t love their new partners.

I'd imagine that JLo is very clean living and found alcoholic Ben very difficult to live with. Dumping someone because of their addiction is a good idea.

I've not heard if he's sober these days but I hope that rehab has finally been successful so that everyone has a chance at happiness.

I always had the impression he left her. He's an addict and I can't imagine his days of binging, smoking cigars, gambling and hookers are behind him. I think he is JLo's one that got away and they maybe do love each other but I can't see it working out even now. Ben's a mess, a looks awful now and Jlo is so clean living, I just don't think they have compatible lifestyles. I'm sure Ben will go off the rails at some point and it will all end in tears, I hope it doesn't but I think that is what will happen.

We all have “the one who got away”. There are also different types of live. The knee trembling passionate love isn’t the same as the bond of live, trust and compatibility forged in a long term relationship. It’s entirely possible to have both a happy marriage and the one that got away.

I recall when JLo and Ben Affleck were together and though she was considered urban it was more in an edgy way than a bad way and race didn't seem to come into it at all, as she's Hispanic and there are lots of them in USA.

I think Ben has serious addiction issues and Jennifer is hugely high maintenance and needy. Maybe the last two decades have helped them find a middle ground. But it might be over by Xmas.....
