What should we do in Manchester today with kids

We came back from holiday yesterday and flew into Manchester airport. Decided to stay in Manchester for a couple of days.

kids are 5 & 10, we have just returned from a very hot country so don’t mind being indoors and avoiding the heat. Also don’t mind going to a good park perhaps.

we want an activity during the day then perhaps a nice meal tonight. Any suggestions

My kids love the science and industry museum. Lots of it is hands on.

Heaton Park?
It's a tram ride away has a boating lake,parks ,loads of nice picnic areas sometimes a fun fair ,etc I think they also have a "Go ape " center there
