How to find a mortgage broker?

I honestly can't remember how we did last time. Obviously I can Google for one, and I know to look for one who is independent but who to trust? And can they get a better rate for us or just make the paperwork easier?
Sorry, I've remortgaged easily 4 time before but I just can't remember how I did it.
Blaming my menopausal brain 😉

We used one recently and it really did remove a lot of stress and headache. We didn't have to pay for it and got a great deal... the contract stated that the broker got his commission from the lenders themselves. We had the option to go for a fee or non-fee mortgage product. I would highly recommend using one. I'm not sure of the Mumsnet rules in terms of sharing details but I'd be happy to share the details of who we used. We went from application to offer in a week.
