What random thing has made you feel like you're winning at life this week?

I had a spare day's holiday I'd forgotten about whixh meant I broke up a day early from work. I bloody floated out of the building!

I've come on my period today - not usually something I get excited about buy I've been lax at tracking since dh had the snip. I go away for 3 weeks on Thursday which means I won't have a period on holiday!

Both things together have tickled me and I told dh I feel like I'm winning at life - he isn't being suitably excited for me so I'm looking for other winners to share my joy with 😀

Bought two bras from Amazon which fit me perfectly! I can cope with anything now.

We went swimming in the sea last week (UK) and it was a) low tide b) not choppy and c) lukewarm. Meant I could actually swim around with the DC and not worry about them getting cold or going underneath a big wave.

We also cooked sausages to eat on the beach for dinner so not cleaning up when we got home.

Got to the dump today and got rid of (recycled) 3 bags of crap Smile

That's my idea of winning at life - my go to were Debenhams bras and I've sent 12 back to curvy Kate / bra stop etc in the last few weeks!

I potted up 4 plants that have been just sat there desperately needing a new home.
They are newish purchases and should have been done weeks ago.

Isittimef0rbedyet · 17/07/2022 15:37

The house beside us is vacant and all other neighbours seem to have gone to the beach today so we have peace and quiet in the garden today 🙂

I also had a days time off in lieu to take so have booked that for later in July.

I woke up WITHOUT a headache today which has been the best as I have been suffering thisbweek.

AffIt · 17/07/2022 15:40

I've been suffering from lower back pain as a result of sitting down too much for work and not exercising enough.

Went to the gym today for the first time in six weeks, did some gentle cardio / stretching and went for a swim and - voila! My back doesn't hurt.

Who'da thunk it, eh? 😉

You've just reminded me that I have some little pothos cuttings to pot up, thank you!

Found a decent outfit and shoes for my incredibly fussy 11 year old do wear to her leavers party. Tantrums were nearly had but I didn't lose my shit. Yay!

I took DD (9) to a theme park yesterday. We've been waiting and waiting for her to be big enough for the huge coasters. She finally was! And she had her hands in the air, laughing, the whole way through. Definitely winning at parenting if she takes after me on them 😂😂

PuttingDownRoots · 17/07/2022 15:46

I think I've found the perfect anniversary gift.

I sat on my arse all weekend doing no housework due to the fact that we have finally started work on the youngest bedroom after 2 years...

Can't clean whilst there is plastering going on??

So i am going to the pub for an hour!

For the past few days I've been getting the tempreture down in my house in prep for this week. Every night I open all windows n leave them open to create a cross breeze through the house. Then when I get up at 6:30 I close all the windows n curtains n blinds. Yes my house is in semi dark ness, but it's also only 18 degrees internally.

Feeling rather smug

Got an offer of a lung transplant this week... unfortunately they were not viable ..but made me finally realise it will one day happen and just might have a normal life for a while

Garysparrowsthirdwife · 17/07/2022 16:10

We bought our house 6 and a half years ago

it wasn’t a doer-upper but the last owner had papered/painted the whole house in black, white and grey-it was like living in a negative (showing my age)

anyway,we painted 9/10th’s of the house-with only the box room to go
its taken 6 years to choose a colour, choose the perfect shade, buy the paint and then paint it

today,it’s finally done-the most perfect shade of darkish green-not too dark but not a pale shade

it looks amazing

(and now I want to repaint the kitchen)

That must have been difficult. My cousin had a double lung transplant a few years ago - absolutely life changing. I hope it happens for you soon

Teen sought me out to have a long conversation about what books he is reading, how they compare to other books he has read, and how different his friend's reading is.

Later the SAME DAY he suggested that he join us and siblings for a family movie night, agreed to compromise his first choice of movies and stayed in the room watching until the end. He even put the empty pizza boxes in the outside recycling without being asked.

I'm totally winning at this parenting a teen thing.

I accidentally ordered a much bigger paddling pool than I'd intended. It's 8ft of adult-sized absolute bliss.

Now if I was a cynical bi@*h, I would say he is prepping you as he has something to tell you!

Finally got a completion date for the sale of my folks' house. When that's done I can start thinking about moving on.

CadburyCrunchy · 17/07/2022 16:42

@MumofSpud so what's your teen really building up to ask your permission for or maybe he wants some expensive ? 🤣 At least he's going about it the right way! Do update us if we're right!

Found the last two tower fans in the shop this afternoon. Got them for half the price of elsewhere and also got a further discount. Chuffed

Babdoc · 17/07/2022 16:57

Got my sense of smell back (second covid attack two weeks ago) just as the sweet peas flowered in my garden. And while the honeysuckle, roses and lavender are still out. So I am pottering around sniffing everything and smiling like a loon!

Fairyliz · 17/07/2022 17:05

Neighbours took their two children on holiday on Thursday and I was able to sit in the garden yesterday and read with just the sound of the birds tweating.

I do like children honestly, but these two don't appear to be able to talk, laugh or even shout; just an horrendous shrieking for hour after hour after hour.
